RCEC Youth Football Tournament

SUNGAI BULOH, SELANGOR, 30 Sept 2019 — What a weekend it was! Five football teams comprising players of Rohingyas and Malaysians took to the field in full camaraderie.

It was the inaugural RCEC Youth Football Tournament organised by the RCEC Rohingya Community Educare Center (RCEC) at the Rubber Research ‎Institute (RRI) football arena.

The five teams comprised three Rohingya youth teams from Seri Kembangan and Puchong including two ‎Malaysian NGO teams which competed in the friendly tournament.‎

The event was officiated by the CEO of NAMA Foundation, Dr. Saleh Bazead and co-hosted by Head of Humanitarian Mission Bureau of HALUAN, Dr. Baharuddin Suri. The RCEC Youth Football Tournament ‎received a lively reception with the presence of the Rohingya community from the surrounding areas.‎ They have grown accustomed to HALUAN which has tirelessly assisted them here as well as in the oppressed Rakhine state of Myanmar.

The tournament aimed to act as a unifying medium and a step towards introducing RCEC amongst the ‎locals and the Rohingya community from around the world to help in providing quality education and ‎recreational activities for the displaced Rohingya people.‎

After the matches ended, HALUAN youths shared the joy of being together and in rekindling their ‎friendship with the Rohingya youths. They also praised the ability and agility of their Rohingya ‎counterparts in the matches. They hope to meet again in the upcoming tournament.‎ The score was RCEC A: 9, RCEC B: 0, RCEC C: 12, HALUAN Putrajaya: 6, and HALUAN Selangor: 3.

At the end of the afternoon, Dr. Saleh presented the prizes and gifts followed by Dr. Baharuddin Suri.
