BANDAR BARU BANGI, 4 Jan 2025 – Six guilds of the Malaysian medical fraternity have rallied to condemn the atrocities by the Israeli regime against general civilians in Gaza, more so against the wanton killing of medical personnel, hospital patients and complete extermination of hospitals and health facilities and assets.

The joint statement by Colleges under the Academy of Medicine, Malaysia issued on 3rd January in Kuala Lumpur specifically mentioned the obvious contravention meted out by the zionist regime explicitly against Article 18 of the fourth Geneva Convention of the International Humanitarian Law which prohibits armies from targeting hospitals and medical units, regardless of their location or function. It would include moving ambulances rushing to save lives.

Attacks on civilian hospitals, as seen in Gaza, are war crimes under intemational law, said the statement. After over a year of relentless bombings since October 7th 2023, Israel had failed to show even one credible evidence that the hospitals were used by resistance fighters or as human shields. Independent investigations by organizations like Human Rights Watch and the United Nations have consistently found no evidence for such claims.

For a period of over one year, the Israeli army – not Defence Forces as it wishfully endeavoured to be called – had attacked and destroyed all 36 medical centres which included 21 hospitals in Gaza. Deliberately. Babies were repeatedly found to be in decomposed state after staff were forcefully chased out by the Israeli army.

“Humanitarian aids were stopped causing no supply of essential medications, resulting in operations done under no anaesthetic drugs or painkillers. The health system was completely destroyed and this is a crime against humanity,” decried the medical professionals here in Malaysia.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza had reported over 500 named healthcare workers which included nurses, paramedics, doctors and other medical personnel being killed since October 2023. The World Health Organization (WHO) reported that at least 214 healthcare workers were detained by the Israeli army.

In the report, a renowned Palestinian orthopaedic surgeon, King’s College UK-trained, made world news headlines but was later silenced by the international news media because Israel could not afford more bad publicity. Dr Adnan Al Bursh was the head at Al Shifa Hospital, and was beaten repeatedly before he died in Israel’s Ofer prison. He refused to retreat for the sake of his patients and was arrested. Palestinian authorities and advocacy groups have attributed his death to torture and mistreatment in custody, with the OHCHR confirming his body showed signs of torture. His death has been highlighted as part of the “systematic targeting process against physicians and the health care system in Gaza by Israel. Why is the world cocooned in vigil?

The Lancet, a prestigious medical journal in its July 2024 publication, had estimated 186,000 deaths amongst Palestinians in Gaza. Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor estimated 70,000 tonnes of explosives were dropped in Gaza strip alone, which surpassed all bombs dropped during the World War II in Europe. The energy of the bombings in an area about the size of London’s Heathrow airport is equivalent to more than three atomic bombs dropped in Hiroshima during Wolrd War II.

Until last week, Kamal Adwan Hospital, was the last standing hospital to provide services despite being attacked. From the hospital doctor’s testimony, for many days, drones repeatedly dropped grenades at the hospital, destroying the generator and water source, essential for the care of many injured or sick. Many staff were also injured and killed in those attacks.

“And then the Israeli army came, and forced the evacuation of the hospital. The hospital head, Dr Hsssam Abu Safiyya was arrested for refusing to leave his patients. Witnesses reported him being whipped with street electrical wires, after forcing him and other staff to strip. The hospital was subsequently burnt down by the Israeli army. The doctor is currently in the same prison that placed the late Dr Al Bursh, and his fate is unknown,” the statement said.

Apart from the hospitals, Israel had attacked civilians in Gaza relentlessly, destroying more than 80% of homes, all schools, all universities, mosques, churches, clinics and even refugee camps. Videos posted by their own soldiers on social media showed merrily deliberate bombings of civilian places. Many were burnt alive and there were video recordings showing patients being consumed by fire with the IV lines still attached to their bodies. This is pure genocide and Israel and its allies shall be responsible in the World Court one day.

Whichsoever country today, regardless of their status and superiority, that still support Israel for its deliberate genocide and ethnic cleansing must all be accounted for. It isn’t about Israel alone. Shotgun riders too must be made accountable. The worst kind of murder had been happening as the whole world watches with nothing could be done to stop them as it unfolds in real life. The Israel army is strongly supported by its so-called “reservists of Jewish faith” living happily with modern lifestyles, having good jobs in many western countries in Europe and mostly in America. Each and everyone of these called-up “reservists” should be discreetly tagged using modern technology by their real and pseudonyms along with their dubious dual or multi-citizenship, and passport identifications worldwide so that civilized nations against this genocidal atrocity can biometrically hunt them down as they traverse the world as tourists, business travelers or mercenaries. No stones unturned. They are all murderers in disguise even if in a three-piece suit. We will want their heads and we want them to know so.

There are no two ways about it except pure, calculated, planned genocide and ethnic cleansing by the zionist army. The Amnesty and the Humans Rights Watch had confirmed that genocide is happening in Gaza. The deliberate year-long starvation, torture, beheaded children from bombings, video-captured gangrape of prisoners and constant bombings all indicate the worst live-broadcasted atrocities in history.

The statement ended with : “We, the colleges listed below, under the Academy of Medicine, Malaysia would like to put on record, our condemnation of these inhumane acts. We urge for immediate ceasefire and opening of aid blockades, with guaranteed safety for humanitarian assistance. Israel as part of the United Nations must adhere to all resolutions passed, as without which, humanitarian crisis would prolong in Gaza.

The United Nations and all countries of the world must unite to carry out legal and moral justice, it said, which include sanctions and arrests for crime against humanity to stop all these senseless killings. The atrocities against mankind, which included attacks on healthcare institutions and personnel must stop and never be normalized. The world must not lose its sense of humanity, empathy and sanity. The moral, ethical and legal compass must be restored and maintained.”

The declaration was a conjoined statement of six Malaysian medical professional guilds namely the Colleges of Emergency Physicians, College of Radiology, College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, College of Anaesthesiologists, College of Public Health, and the College of Ophthalmologists. Doctors and healthcare workers the world over work day and night to sustain lives and giving hope for a better and healthier lifestyle in the name of humanity across borders. While the zionists and their supporting nations work hard to make sure none of these shall happen.
